About Me

My photo
My Name is Travis Evans. I have been married since 2007 to my wife, Kira Evans. We have a Three girls, Kenzie Lou, Jacee Pink, and Emmy Jeanne. My wife has been doing the blog thing for a few years now, you can follow her comments @ travisandkiraevans.blogspot.com. Her blog covers our family and things we have done. Me, I'm going to cover what I call TKDesign. TKDesign is an idea which stands for creativity, execution, purpose, and family. Family with the "TK." TK gets its roots from a high school love story. A simple representation of two teenagers love, T+K. In our later years we dropped the "+" and now "TK" represents us, our family, and our values. Design, as the English dictionary defines it; to create, fashion, execute or construct according to plan, to have a purpose, to devise for a specific function or end, to make a drawing. We can sum up the definition with these three words; Creativity, Execution, and Purpose. You put these four things together; Family, Creativity, Execution, and Purpose and you have the idea of TKDesign. So you'll get my thoughts on sports, cars, designs, and my family. So if that Interests you feel free to read on!

Deck - Day 12&13&14

A huge thanks on his one goes out to Richard, Jordan, Kira, Grandpa Neal, and my dad. I had to go to canada this past week for work so when our decking came in Kira and Neal volunteered to go get it. They went in the rain and picked it up so it would be ready for us to start on Thursday evening. Then the fun started so take a look...

Loaded and ready to get started!

Check out the little helper at the end of the deck... Jordan and I laid the decking while Neal was the master cutter.

Neal stayed until the end. We finished the decking at about 10pm. Still have all the railings to do!

Richard and my dad helped with the stairs.

Neal and I got two railing built before Jacee's 1st birthday party. Then it started to rain.

The rain wasn't cooperating so I only got one more rail built on Saturday!

Looking forward to finishing it this week so stay tuned!

Deck - Day 9&10&11

The progress has been excellent and faster than I expected... All the joists are up and I even started working in he stairs this past weekend. On Monday I worked on getting the post up and finished the stringers for the stairs. The goal is to hit it hard on Thursday this week once he decking materials come in. If I can do that with a little help we could have it ready for Jacee's birthday party this weekend... That's the hope and we'll see how we can get there!

Floor joist are all in place.

Makes me want to walk out there for a BBQ!

The first sign of stairs and railing.

Mom had to work so because the girls were being good for Grandma Karla I took them to get a special treat, after we went to HomeDepot of course. The love their Artic Circle ice cream!

Getting clean after helping daddy!

Kenzie wanted to stay up and help me some more after we put sis to bed. Because her hair was still wet we used mom's special towel.

A late night finish!

It's just about ready for the decking...!

Deck - Day 6&7&8

Over the last three days I've made some great progress. The last half a way came down, the final sheets of plywood went up, and I've got the footprint of the Deck laid out.

The girls and mom went shopping with me to special order the decking material and wood for the joists.

My extra helpers!

Girls playing in the truck with mom while waiting for dad to special order the deck materials.

Final sheets up.

The deck layout (13'x13').

Added supports to keep the attached floor joists.

The fox 1171.5 hit the dirt and coolers.

April 13th started round 2 of the seeds because nothing was happening.

April 15th the foxes are going to battle it out.

Kenzie had a couple of Apple seeds sprout.

Deck - Day 4&5

This week end as you can tell was split between Kenzie room, the attic, the deck, and my Buddy's Jordan's basement. It was a weekend where I got maybe 9hrs of sleep in two days (only 3 on Friday night). Since I already posted on Kenzie's new room, let's update you on the attic and the deck. I have been able to save a lot of wood from the deconstruction so I repurposed it for building my attic shelves. Part of getting Kenzie's room ready was cleaning out the remainder of stuff from the old storage room and putting it in the attic. Then on Saturday I tore down all but half of the last wall of the deck. Things are coming along great. I can wait to host some summer BBQ's this year.

I can't believe all this stuff was in one room in out basement!

No more upper floor!

Just one wall left to take down.

You can see I've got the sheeting in place for the last wall of the garage. It was so windy I had to put them up so Stacey (My Mustang) didn't get injured from flying debris.

These few joist are what was originally the deck when the house was first built. Just a landing with stairs.

Kenzie's New Room

Kenzie is getting to the age were she needed a bigger bed. We were not planning on moving her downstairs until the next baby came along... Well Kira isn't pregnant but we made a out of the blue change of plans and moved her downstairs. We kind of started planning for it this past Christmas when we took most of our storage out of that room and up to the attic. So this past weekend Kira and I got busy preparing for the transition. This ment I had to clean out my office closet, mostly garage type stuff, redesign get shelves, move more stuff out to the attic, and put all Kenzie's stuff in her new room. The room still needs some hole patches and Sheetrock but it will get us by for now. Then grandma nette supprised us and asked if Kenzie could sleepover with her other two cousins. Boy was I happy! That ment we could finish and not have to worry about where she would sleep (she was kinda already sleeping on that room). So Kira and I stayed up until 3am to finish it. With only I 1am run to walmart. Turned out ok so take a look!

First set of new shelves.

More shelves... I still can't believe we had all this stuff in our basement!

Closet redesign.

Here are a few pictures of Kenzie's new room. You can see where I still have some work to do...
