About Me

My photo
My Name is Travis Evans. I have been married since 2007 to my wife, Kira Evans. We have a Three girls, Kenzie Lou, Jacee Pink, and Emmy Jeanne. My wife has been doing the blog thing for a few years now, you can follow her comments @ travisandkiraevans.blogspot.com. Her blog covers our family and things we have done. Me, I'm going to cover what I call TKDesign. TKDesign is an idea which stands for creativity, execution, purpose, and family. Family with the "TK." TK gets its roots from a high school love story. A simple representation of two teenagers love, T+K. In our later years we dropped the "+" and now "TK" represents us, our family, and our values. Design, as the English dictionary defines it; to create, fashion, execute or construct according to plan, to have a purpose, to devise for a specific function or end, to make a drawing. We can sum up the definition with these three words; Creativity, Execution, and Purpose. You put these four things together; Family, Creativity, Execution, and Purpose and you have the idea of TKDesign. So you'll get my thoughts on sports, cars, designs, and my family. So if that Interests you feel free to read on!

Garage - Day 26

Today we finished the floor. Special thanks to Grandpa Brent and Neal for helping with the floor and to Grandma Karla and Aunt Tine for helping watch the girls.

(Grandpa Neal hammering away)

(The attic floor is complete!)

Garage - Day 25

Dad and I started around 11:30am after the bike ride and an hour and a half in we had 4 boards hung and said it was time for a nap... We were exhausted from the ride the night before.

(Attic access hole)

After well deserved naps we got back at it and laid some sheets down to start making the floor for the attic storage.

(Floor tacked in place)

It was single dad night when mom had to go in to work. So the girls came outside and watch for a little bit while we were hammering.

Antelope by moonlight 2013

Friday was the family annual bike ride out at antelope island. It was the 20th year for Antelope by Moon light. For those unfamiliar with the ride it is 24 miles, 12 to the barn halfway and turn around. You start at ten o'clock at night and ride until morning. Here are my stats:

( my 2013 stats thanks to Strava)

We also dress our bikes... This year I decided to dress myself up because first prize was a new bike. I took 2nd and walked away with six lagoon passes, 2 sky coaster lifts, and a helmet. Not bad for a last minute idea sparked by Jeff Jensen. I went as Syndrome from the Incredibles, we already had the orange hair that our entire group of 11 wore. I wanted to be a superhero so Jeff came up with the suggestion from there. Then it was off to scrounging and buying granny panties. Here are a few picks from the ride.

Garage - Day 24

The weather today was defiantly cooler, almost too cool. We didn't get much done due to the thunderstorms! Even with the stops for the lightning we were still able to get the floor joists up and in place today. The four day weekend was very good to me and we got a lot done. Progress will slow down for the next few days as I must go out of town for work and then for a family reunion next weekend.

(We lifted the flooring up on the joists)

(The joists are almost all in place, the last thing we need to do is put the end cap on and put the attic access ladder in.)

Garage - Day 23

The day started off early, I'd have to say the weather was much better at 7am version the 100+ weather we'd been seeing during the day. We finished framing the walls today and started with the floor joists. Special thanks to My father of course, Jordan Rogers, Josh Bolding and Evan for the help today.

(Built one of the last walls by myself today while I was waiting for dad to finish shopping for hot wheels)

(I put the window in upside down)

(Standing up last walls)

(Kenzie was even a big help today.)

(One wall left)

(All the walls are up)

(2nd big Home depot Spend)

(Garage taking shape)

(First look at the garage from the back)

(The first floor Joists are in place!)

Garage - Day 22

There were decisions make an errors corrected. The only bad thing I have to say about Jakerete is the finish on the top of the walls isn't the greatest. It got a few humps we had to fix to make the wall level. Then that old Bungalo hunt finally is going to earn its keep. It have three 3ft windows we are going to steal from it to use for the garage. Thank you Bungalo hunt, you and my dad's idea just save me $600. We built two 14ft sections today on the 42ft wall. That means I've got about 32ft more wall to build but there not much to the last 18ft. Them of course Kenz had to come check up on us. She makes for a good Forman, or should I say Forwoman...

(Man door opening)

(All three walls)

(Let's add another window... Thanks Bungalo)

(My little Forwoman...got to get her inspection in for the day)

Garage - Day 21

It's here, my time has come. We started framing the walls today. By we I mean my dad and me. Thanks Pops for all you help and knowledge sharing... We got two walls up today and of course I could do anything with out one of my special little ones coming to see what I was doing. She was pretty good other than the chalk she spilt on herself... Go Kenz!

(Wall #1... Oh so beautiful)

(Wall # 2, my first window)

(My little observer sidekick)

(The mark of Kenzie!)

2013 pumpkin watch

I've pollinated 2 pumpkins thus far. I'm hoping the second is the PB producer! Just because it would be 92 days old at the weigh off versus 98. So really either would be great and that last week isn't going to produce much weigh anyways. I just don't want to see it stop growing until that last week or so. Side note, I've also had some really cool looking mushrooms growing in the patch.

(8 days old-June 22nd pollination)

(2 days old- June 28th pollination)

(Crazy looking mushrooms- they look like oysters to me)
