About Me

My photo
My Name is Travis Evans. I have been married since 2007 to my wife, Kira Evans. We have a Three girls, Kenzie Lou, Jacee Pink, and Emmy Jeanne. My wife has been doing the blog thing for a few years now, you can follow her comments @ travisandkiraevans.blogspot.com. Her blog covers our family and things we have done. Me, I'm going to cover what I call TKDesign. TKDesign is an idea which stands for creativity, execution, purpose, and family. Family with the "TK." TK gets its roots from a high school love story. A simple representation of two teenagers love, T+K. In our later years we dropped the "+" and now "TK" represents us, our family, and our values. Design, as the English dictionary defines it; to create, fashion, execute or construct according to plan, to have a purpose, to devise for a specific function or end, to make a drawing. We can sum up the definition with these three words; Creativity, Execution, and Purpose. You put these four things together; Family, Creativity, Execution, and Purpose and you have the idea of TKDesign. So you'll get my thoughts on sports, cars, designs, and my family. So if that Interests you feel free to read on!

2013 Pumpkins - Decisions

Kenzie and I were out playing in the patch
yesterday and today. I've decide to go with overhead and under canopy sprinkler systems this year. I just can't not have the overhead as I've see them do great thing for me but I see the trend moving to the under canopy type. So I'm going with both and I have the system to automate them and deliver the "roids"! Kenzie was also helping me plant the seed sweep stakes winner in the sweet spot. The winner is the Fox 1171.5 narrowly edging out the B.Evans 801. She is hungry for some myco! And lastly we had to water the flowers, I can't go outside with out my sidekick! I love my little girls! Welcome to our home Jacee Pink Evans we love you!

Willys - New Headers

So after 25+ years my Father is nearing completion of his Willys Coupe. The Stone Woods & Cook has been an icon for him in this process. The motor has been the hold up, we'll his excuses for the hold up, for the past 10+ years. But we all know its been other hobbies. The motor is now complete and the headers need some rework. So two nights ago we started on the passenger side reworking one of the pipes. Then tonight we started working on another pipe. They both had some clearance issues with the fender cut outs. We nearly completed one of them tonight. It's always fun working on the cars with Dad and especially love the smell of hot metal welding. I can't say the same for Kira she hates how I smell after I come home from welding. I don't think it will do wheelie like the one below but I'm excited to see it finally run after all it's been a project he's had since I was born. I turn 28 on Monday.

New Garage before pictures

Today the quest for a new garage took its first real step. I quit playing with Inventor and AutoCAD and had someone cover over to quote the cement work. Thought this would be a good time to capture a before photo for comparison down the road. I grabbed a few angles from the back now I just need to capture some of the front.

In other topics Kenzie was super funny today. We were playing outside and she did the cutest thing. We were pretending to think with our finger on our lips and saying umm.... And then out of nowhere she points her finger in the air and says "I have an idea." I should have captured a photo of that it was so cute and she did it repeatedly as we where think about which characters her friend would be while we were playing in the Strawberry Shortcake house (top of the stairs by the bungalow hut).

2013 Pumpkins - Volunteers and Round Two

Went to check on the pumpkins today and noticed a dozen or so volunteers in and out of the hot house. Also placed the second round or Fox 1171.5 seeds in the dirt today. It's almost time to make the decision as to with Pumpkin will make the translate to the patch... Decisions decisions what will I ever do?

2013 Pumpkins - New Home

Today I picked up the little ones from the sitter and placed them in their new home today. The Evans boys and Mr. Fox looks good. I got a few more seeds from Kyle Fox and started them last night. I wonder what the neighbors think when they see this glowing bubble in my yard..."ET phono home" is one of the most common things. To be more recent I'd say it looks like there is some Shield activity going on. Is it Hulk, Thor, or Loki under there?

2013 Pumpkins - Baby Sitter

I had to go out of town this week so I had to take all my kids to the sitter. I dropped Kenzie off at Grandma Hendrickson's house and the other little ones off at Grandpa Evans' House. I will definitely have som desperation anxiety. Then I'm also on edge wondering if baby Pink decides she wants to come while I'm in Dallas this week. Just so there is no confusion Baby Pink is more important than the Pumpkins...

2013 Pumpkins - Fox 1171.5 Germination & Incubation

Today I got the first of two Fox 1171.5 seedlings to germinate. Incubation is in full swing at the Evans home. Now it's time to find an incubation sitter while I go out of time for a few days. Dad can you sit for me? But can I trust the competition? I'll have to trust he can treat them as one of his own, I guess literally two of the seedlings are (Evans 801).

2013 Pumpkins - Germination and Incubation

I saw the first signs of germination with 2 of the 6 seeds. One had completely split open and you could really see the roots. I didn't get a picture of this one before I planted it in the pot. If you look closely at the picture you can see the root on the second seedling. Then you can see the pot placed in their incubators. I'll switch out the water 2-3 times to keep them nice and cozy.

2013 Pumpkins - Seed Preparation

This year I'm taking some of Kyle Fox's advice provided at the March seminar at ThanksGiving Point. I let the seeds soak for 6 hrs in a 20% hydrogen peroxide water mixture. Then I placed them in their bags in a moist paper towel to await germination. To help warm the seedling I wrapped them in a warm blanket about 85 degrees. The warm blanket was a rice heat pack, noting let than velvet to make sure they feel loved. The seed I'm going with is the 1171.5Fox. I am also doing the B.Evans 801 as a back up and the T.Evans 503.5 to see has the seeds have been after sitting for 3 years.

2013 Pumpkins- New Patch

This year I moved my patch. The driving reason was of course to make room for my garage I'm building this spring/summer. Here are a few pics of the progress. I put 2 cubic yards of mulch in the fall and added 2 cubic yards of utelite this spring. Te utelite is to help break up the soil/clay and make it more porous to allow more water absorption. Then I put up my shade structure and hothouse. Now we're awaiting germination.
